OakRiver Technology and G&R Labs Announcement – Dip Coater Radiometer Upgrade
We are happy to announce that OakRiver Technology’s line of dip coating equipment now offers a G&R Labs radiometer for the automated UV intensity measurement routine. OakRiver and G&R Labs have co-developed UV Intensity System Model 204, which is specifically designed to meet the needs of the OakRiver coaters.
G&R Labs and the Model 204 system offer:
• Range: .1 – 250.0 mW/cm2
• Wavelength: 320 – 390 nm UVA; with UVB and UVC capabilities, if desired
• Intuitive, simple user interface with no external software required
• Powered meter, with battery back-up and auto-shutoff features
• CE certified and calibrated to the NIST standard
• Large range of adjustability on probe calibration to minimize potential of end-of-life probes due to re-calibration failures
• Knowledgeable and timely support directly from the OEM for service and calibrations
• Minimal lead times on new systems and replacement components
The OakRiver dip coating equipment serves the medical device industry by applying hydrophilic and photo-curable coating solution to devices such as catheters and guidewires. Proper UV exposure to the devices during the curing process is a critical element to achieving the durability and lubricity of the resulting hydrophilic coating. G&R Labs helps provide the confidence of accurate UV intensity measurements from a reliable radiometer system. Customers with existing dip coaters are encouraged to evaluate the G&R Labs radiometer as a potential upgrade, which is backwards compatible.
California-based G&R Labs was founded in 1995 and has a specialized focus on the design and manufacture of UV light meters. G&R Labs offers a wide-range of meters serving a variety of industries. In addition, G&R Labs provides in-house service support, including routine NIST-traceable calibrations.
OakRiver Technology, a PaR Systems Company, is located in Minnesota and specializes in the design and manufacture of custom automation equipment. As a subset of their automation expertise, OakRiver developed a product line of dip coaters back in 2007 in collaboration with SurModics, a leader in surface modification technologies. The upgrade to the G&R Labs UV meter is one of many examples of OakRiver’s commitment to continuous improvements to the dip coater platform.
